Danebury was created by its two Directors and shareholders, Peter Harper and Rodney Bladon as an outsourcing company for the factoring and invoice discounting industry. Between them Peter and Rodney have over 50 years experience in the receivables financing industry as well as 8 years in the commercial mortgage industry. Prior to establishing Danebury, Peter was the Managing Director of Close Invoice Finance Limited in Newbury whilst Rodney was the Operations Director having previously been Head of Audit and Survey.
Danebury initially concentrated on providing Audit and Survey work for receivables financiers either to complement the funder's own resources or alternatively to provide a totally outsourced service. This is attractive to the funders as it overcomes the traditional problems of uneven workflow and exceptional workloads without compromising the vital security requirements. It also relieves the funders from the fixed cost of having the audit/survey capability in house.
Danebury has developed its own audit program which uniquely provides a summary of the audit information presenting it to the reader in a concise form which clearly emphasises the areas of higher risk to assist the reader. Alternatively Danebury is equally happy to work with the discounter's own audit document.
However through a number of business contacts it became clear that there was also a demand for placing potential corporate borrowers / clients with the most appropriate receivables financing company. With around 70 members of the Factors and Discounters Association it comes as no surprise that there are many different service and funding variations on offer, ranging from factoring and invoice discounting to stock and trade finance. Danebury's skill is to match the needs of its clients to the financier which best meets those needs. Importantly when introducing a " new business client" Danebury expects to put together a comprehensive report to give the receivables financier a complete picture of the prospective client rather then simply passing a telephone number and a contact name. "We expect to earn the introduction fee and are prepared and able to provide all the information a funder might require".
The services offered by Danebury go beyond audit work and new business brokerage. They also provide internal reviews of the factor or discounter, which can be limited to security documentation inspections or extend to a full portfolio review. This might also take the form of a special project as directed by the receivables financier.
Peter Harper summed up the role of Danebury as: "Danebury essentially exists to meet the needs of the receivables financing industry.
